This may be different than other posts. I had been trying out Waterfox for better security, but decided to remove it. I did two things: First removed Waterfox using REVO Unstaller. REBOOTED

I might have had RATAIL malware so decided to install Charter Security Suite since was free with my account. Rebooted.

At this point is when I wanted to check my email. Got profile error and Thunderbird will not load. Uninstalling , reboot and reinstalling does not help. I keep a backup of my profile folder in these cases. I really need this fixed as I have years of several profiles and email that I need. Thanks

Open the Thunderbird profile folder following these instructions "Profiles - Where Thunderbird stores your messages and other user data" https://mzl.la/2cYKHaB

In the profile folder open the file profiles.ini und copy its contents. Then open the folder "Profiles" and copy the names of the folders it contains

This appears to be caused by the recent update to Thunderbird. This didn't help but I ended up just creating new profiles. Hopefully this can be avoided in future updates.
