I was checking to see if I should update to version 52.3.0, but see there are many problems with the Windows version. Has anyone updated to the Mac version of T-bird 52.3.0? Are the problems in the Windows version also in the Mac version?

Which problem are you concerned about?

Not really certain but due to the number of posts reporting problems I'm trying to find out which, if any, are in the Mac version. Of course most likely the problems reported are due to the Windows software itself and not actual T-bird problems.

There are also many problems with version 45, you just don't see them posted because most users have updated to 52. Also, some of the 45 issues are Sierra related which will never be fixed in version 45.

So it's a matter of, pick your poison.

Also, you are version 45.7.1 but the most current version is 45.8.0

OK. Interestingly when I was looking at the list of releases, there was a large gap between 45.7.1 & 52.3. I didn't see any 45.8, 46.x, 47.x, 48.x, 49.x, 50.x, or 51.x releases.

Then you are not familiar with our release process. We follow this model used by Firefox ESR https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/faq/

so you have turned off automatic updates?

Yes, I don't allow ANY software to update automatically. It has to tell me an update is available. However, I hadn't launched T-bird in awhile as I was using Firefox to access my mail via GMail. I decided I should see what was the most recent version and see what had changed. I'm biting the bullet and installing 52.3.

Ah, so Firefox ESR and T-bird are now linked by version number. I currently am using Firefox ESR so if it tells me there is a newer ESR version I can also download the same version of T-bird.

We loosely follow their schedule. So you cannot rely on the appearance of a Firefox version to signal that a Thunderbird version is available.

However, it CAN remind me to check for an update! ;)
