Can't reply to a message - says "connecting" and never does. But if I save it as a draft, then open the draft, it sends. Windows 10, not encrypted.

Windows 10, no encryption, but using a VPN. Can usually send a message I write. But I can't reply or forward without going through this fix. Says "connecting" then "The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.verizon.net was lost in the middle of the transaction. Try again."

verizon I think requires you to be "on their network" to send mail. So you can not send mail from hotspots etc. Being on a VPN probably fools the verizon server into thinking you are not on their network, or perhaps even in their country.
