My bookmarks are not working in a sidebar and when selected they open in the sidebar

I have a new laptop which has updated itself many times and I have lost most of my bookmarks . Now I have started putting them back in but if I press on one it only opens in the sidebar hiding all the others and not opening on the main screen . I hope you can assist Ray

Chosen solution

Right-click each of those bookmarks and open Properties. Then un-check Load this bookmark in the sidebar.

That pref gets check-marked when using Bookmark this page links on webpages, so don't use those types of links. Use the Bookmark features built into Firefox instead.
