You posted in the Firefox support fora queue. Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.

If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

If your problem is with Thunderbird, let us know and we can move this thread to the Thunderbird support queue.

Not all that young myself - 67 yo.

If you are using Firefox, you are logging in to webmail.

Which 'brand' or website?

Comcast Xfinity, AT&T, Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, Gmail BT, or what?

OK, you are using Yahoo! Mail thru Firefox.

The title of this thread - "every time I hit my e-mail a new compose letter appears."

What are you hitting? Have you added a Yahoo!Mail add-on to Firefox? And you're using a toolbar button in Firefox?

Or, are you clicking an "email to" link on a webpage? That will assume that you want to write a new email and the appropriate action would be to open the "compose" dialog.

If not any of those - merely opening Yahoo!Mail via a bookmark in Firefox may cause the "compose" window to open if that is what you saved as your bookmark - the "compose" window. Just a guess, I don't use Yahoo!Mail and don't even know if it is possible to go directly to "compose"

I log on at the very bottom of the screen by clicking on the firefox icon (very bottom left corner) then home page appears. I can visit any website i want but when I hit e-mail on the toolbar I get my email list but within about 45 sec. a compose letter appears with the link from the last website i was on. Yes I can X it out and everything is fine until I go from my net website to email again. Just very annoying.

Sounds like an email button that was added by an extension. There is no button like that in the Firefox program. Hit the 3-bar button, then click on Add-ons, than open the Extensions tab on the left-side. Look at your installed extensions and post the name of that extension.

I suspect that extension is for the mailto in Firefox and the "compose" window is supposed to open.

But once we know what extension you have installed, we won't have to guess.

In red : google toolbar for firefox could not be verified and has been disabled; and the same for microsoft.net framework

If those two extensions are disabled that email button can't be from either of them. It would have to be from an enabled extension.

Can you provide a screenshot of that email button and the surrounding area.

See this support article. How do I create a screenshot of my problem? It is best to use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot and make sure that you do not exceed a maximum file size of 1 MB.

Then use the Browse .... button below the Post a Reply text box to upload the screenshot.

Is that related this "email thing" or is that an additional subject?

Whatever you see - give us a screenshot so that we don't have to guess what you're seeing or play 20 questions.
