If I set TB to leave all messages on the respective account's servers, can I successfully run TB on multiple PCs? TB would be running on only one PC at a time.

You can using IMAP accounts successfully run them concurrently.

Under Server Settings, Server Type, for yahoo there doesn’t seem to be a choice. The Server Type is: POP Mail Server.

Matt, my comment was poorly phrased. What I should have asked is does yahoo offer IMAP mail?

Matt, I removed my POP.mail. yahoo... account and then added it back as an IMAP account. Last time I looked, all of my folders from yahoo webmail are showing up in TB. Thanks for your help.

Te type is chosen when you add the account to Thunderbird. You can add another duplicate account that is IMAP. Or you could use a POP account as a master one that actually downloads mail and removes it from the server, so the other only have say the last weeks mail synchronized.

Yes, IMAP is available with yahoo accounts. It's possible that they don't offer it for automatic set up, but generally you can find settings to use via their help pages. It often masquerades as "settings for mobile" usage.

Sure is in the auto config database as both IMAP and POP, so it should be just a case of selecting it at the correct point in the new account wizard.

I would suggest however that you rename your existing accounts before you start. Including the outgoing server (SMTP) entry. Other wise you may encounter issues with error about the server name already existing.

Zenos, Thanks for your reply. I removed my yahoo account (set up to use their POP server) from TB. Then I added it back to TB set to use IMAP settings. btw, IMAP was the default.

Oh, Oh. I removed yahoo and then added back with the IMAP option, all before I saw your post.

As long as it works for you. No matter at all.
