Dear All

We have problems with thunderbird when we set up an e-mail account ex sales@mrcheap.gr to more than two thunderbird clients.

If we use simultaneously the same mail account with thunderbird then the mails cannot be received at thunderbird.

We have no messages. Our installation is IMAP.

So you can undestand if we have 4 users using thunderbird for the same account sales@mrcheap.gr at different computers they cannot work because they are not receive messages.

Webmail is working fine. We have this problem just with Thunderbird.

Suddenly today (June 7) when Thunderbird tries to download gmail emails, I get a message saying "Sending of password did not succeed. Mail server pop.googlemail.com responded: Username and password not accepted." I have double checked that the username and password are correct (and I can access gmail on the web with those credentials.) I am using POP3 and have not had any problems before today.

As a way of seeing where the problem was, I went to account setup and tried to set up a gmail account (only put in the gmail address, no password.) When I click on "continue" it says "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account."

Getting 'Username and password not accepted. ' initially yesterday am but cleared up with no changes in the pm but back to same problem after working till about 9am today..... Is this a TB problem or something changed either in TB or at my end?

I see this response from a previous similar problem but need more info to even start to check this...see below!

“If you viewed the password in Saved Passwords, it indicates you're using 'normal password' authentication instead of the preferred OAuth2. First, check that cookies are enabled in TB Options/Privacy or Privacy & Security (TB 78), set the authentication to OAuth2 in Server Settings for the incoming and also in Outgoing Server (SMTP), then delete the passwords in Saved Passwords, restart TB, enter the current working account password in the OAuth browser window when prompted. “

OK, where and how to I view 'saved passwords' and why would I suddenly have to change anything after years of no problems?

Running win 7 and TB 6.9.1 ...there is no such option as OAuth2 in the authentication method in server settings in Account settings (gives 'encrypted, kerberos, ktml) is set at 'normal'!

Is there a site to go to that would indicate if / when TB is having a problem at their end so we dont spend hours trying to solve a thing that is NOT our problem?

Since the "lesser apps" changes of May 31st I have not been able to get emails through, I have used Gmail and Thunderbird for many years with a few different Gmail email accounts. I use Thunderbird 60 because I have extensions I like that don't work with newer versions. I know I can't use "App password" given the age of Thunderbird but I thought oAuth should still work ? But in the security settings there isn't any option for oAuth in receiving emails, only in SMTP. The only security options I have are 'Normal Password, 'Encrypted Password', 'Kerberos/GSSAPI', and 'NTLM'.

Any help ?

If I have to upgrade, the below are the add-ons I use that I am worried won't work with 90+. Those are........

1. Identity Chooser (automatically chooses the email address to reply from that email was sent to) 2. Manually Sort Folders (as name suggests) 3. Import/Export Tools (as name suggests) 4. SMTP Select (allows me to select which SMTP server to use from a very simple drop down menu)

Any add-ons that do all those things for 90+ Thunderbird ?

Few years ago I switched to beta version (must admit that it was accidentally, and cannot recall exactly why I did this) and since I've been having regularly issues with Thunderbird (although I love it and been using for more than 15 years).

The latest one happened just today, when I updated to beta102 - and the issue is that I cannot download my emails ... :-( Other accounts seem to work just fine, but this one uses POP Mail Server. How can I fix this?

Thunderbird is unable to retrieve any email for me. I have received the following error:

The DELE command did not succeed. Error marking a message as deleted. Mail server mail.amazinggraceinc.com responded: messages are counted from 1

I have since tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird, creating another email address and am now receiving this error:

The RETR command did not succeed. Error retrieving a message. Mail server mail1.hostingplatform.com responded: messages are counted from 1

I'm not sure what triggered this error, but the last email that came through was marked as urgent and shortly after it, I was no longer able to retrieve emails. Please let me know what I need to do to fix this issue.

I have three gmail accounts on Thunderbird and two of them are not working now. I also have these accounts on Apple Mail and they continue to work normally there so I know that gmail accepts my passwords.

But when I try to use Thunderbird, it keeps telling me: "Mail server pop.googlemail.com responded: Username and password not accepted".

I keep reentering the passwords and they keep being rejected. I read the FAQs about this and tried to follow them but it does not work. There must be a problem with a recent update for Thunderbird because it's been working fine up to now.. What must I do??

When I start Thunderbird I get this message Sending of password for user Jim R Feliciano did not succeed. Mail server inbound.att.net responded: Server error - Please try again later. I have double checked the server settings. I have it on port 995. I am able to get my email when I log in through Yahoo on my browser. I also have a program called BlueMail with the same settings that works correctly. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Thunderbird a couple of time with no change. I have tried the connection security settings None StartTls and SSL/TLS and no change. I keep the authentication method set to Normal Password. Please help.

I have Thundebird version 91.10.0 and Windows 10... Thunderbird recently quit sending and receiving from Gmail. If I use the "Normal" password setting then T Bird says that password is bad and it isn't. If I use the OAuth2 password setting then a Google screen pops up and prompts me to enter my Gmail address and then it says it is a bad address and it is not.... I have checked the server setting for IMAP and STEMP and they are correct. I have tried uninstalling T Bird and reinstalling. The problem still persisits.... How can I solve this problem.

Dismiss not working
