Firefox 102esr has almost every menu, popup and screen in dark mode - which I find extremely difficult to read, given I'm antique.

I've tried all the modes like light, system etc nothing seems to fix it.

Am I going to need a stack of css code to fix it - code for each and everything I want to set back to light, or is there a setting to achieve this?

Good morning:

I updated FF 91 ESR to 102 ESR and I'm not liking the Print interface. The main problem is that the printer properties are not available. The printers default is to print from tray 2, but sometimes I want to print from tray 1.

If it can be changed then I prefer code that I add to User.js "user_pref("print.tab_modal.enabled", false); " is being ignored.

thanks Norbert

I tried to close it one by one by "end task" option but still, every time I open Firefox again these tabs or whatever they are are back and using memory more than any browser

I have this problem. It just showed up after installing a brand new ARRIS modem exactly like the one I had. "Your connection is not secure" error when trying to log in to my modem's login page at the local address. There are several fixes that I saw, none seem to help. Tried the SSL refresh and it screwed up the browser. Now I get to figure out how I had it set up before the "refresh". Like I said this just started in Firefox and it prevents me from accessing the modem console period. If I use Edge it does not block me. (yuk) It does show a "Not Secure" message in the address bar but it will allow me to access my Modem. Why cant we get a fix for this. Its a local web address not on the internet. Should be a way to add to a allow local address list and ignore certificates or whatever else is causing it to block access.....

Email me when someone answers the thread seems to be broken on this page. I would like a email please so I can find a response.

Thanks! Roger

After doing an update to Firefox (currently on 102.0.1), the settings for what happens when I click on a PDF file always seems to reset to 'save file', when what I want (and what I have to keep changing back to) is 'Always ask'.

Is this a known issue or is it something about my environment that causes this?

My system is running Windows 11 on an HP laptop with an AMD 7-5800U CPU and 8Gb of memory. [I'm posting this on my desktop machine which doesn't seem to exhibit the same behaviour - Windows 10 on an Intel 8500 CPU and 16Gb of memory]

thanks for any advice.

Hi everyone,

a long time ago, Firefox on GNU/Linux didn't have this default behaviour I've described in the title of my question (but FF on Windows had this behaviour at the time, so I believe it was decided to unify the behaviour on all platforms).

The thing is: I truly dislike having the existing text selected automatically. When I click a precise location in the URL or Search field (where some text already exists), I expect the text cursor to locate at this exact spot, NOT the existing text to be entirely selected! With this "new" default behaviour, it now requires 2 clicks to achieve the same task (not what I'd call an improvement) and makes it really PAINFUL to construct a list of search terms (one by one) by copying/pasting them from the current web page (funnily, it proves to be less painful when copying text from another application, since the automatic selection of previously pasted search terms does NOT happen when pasting an additional term -> this is exactly the behaviour I'm expecting).

Historically, whenever I was willing to have the existing text SELECTED (I agree this can be useful from time to time), I used keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+L or Ctrl+K to move the text cursor to the URL or Search field (respectively).

All in all, the historical behaviour of FF on GNU/Linux was just fine (at least to me).

So my QUESTION today is: how to get this historical behaviour back? How to prevent the existing text from being selected when I just CLICK in the URL or Search field?

I've not been able to find a hidden option to configure this behaviour since FF on Linux changed the rule. So I'm afraid it doesn't exist... But if so, would it be possible to add such an option?

Thank you :)

In the last week, I have been unable to complete transactions using PayPal on three websites. I can see it going through until there is a communication with Google or Captcha. Then it hangs up. Now Blue Shield log in remains greyed out. All these sites work fine with Safari.

Hi,

I'm trying to access locally-installed help files that are in /usr/share. When I try accessing anything starting with "file:///usr" in Firefox, I get "Access to the file was denied".

I've already set "security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy = false", which now let me access "file:///tmp", "file:///media" and "file:///home", but anything under "file:///usr" (and serveral other top-level directories) still returns the access denied error.

I'm running Firefox 102.0.1 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS.
