tag OK in fresh installation 0f 9.0.1 but no more recognized in upgrade from lower version
Three 1. New installation of win-XP + fresh installation of Firefox 9.0.1 2. New installation of Ubuntu 11.10 + automatic installation of Firefox 9.0.1 3. Upgrade to Firefox 9.0.1 from Firefox 8 on a win XP work station
In 1. and 2., clicking a (news feed) link to an .xml file with an

tag inside brings up the familiar screen displating the feed while allowing to subscribe to the same
In 3., clicking a (news feed) link to an .xml file with an

tag inside brings up a screen displating the code of the .xml file with a warning about formatting. Even a previous uninstallation of Firefox 8. with deletion of firefox related entries in windows/prefetch ...etc didn't help.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
