work off line button uncheck? where is it? browser won't start says I have the work off line button checked?

bold textFire fox Pros. When you send out a new program and you set work off line buttons. Please explain to the rest of us where these buttons are. I was a basics programmer with the IBM 360 machine language and BAL, I cannot understand why the current programmers can't communicate with the public more to our level? I won't be upgrading to new versions if you keep up working like this.

Machine language is hardly user friendly!

Not sure if you are using Firefox 3.6 or 4.0 they have a slightly different look and menu.

Firefox 3.6 the offline option can be found from Menubar -> File -> work offline

  • shortcut keys Alt then F then W

Firefox 4 the option can be found from the orange firefox button

You may however be getting such a message because you have started Firefox whilst you are not connected to the internet.

After upgrading to 4.0 on a Windows 7 PC, the browser does not work but gives error message "Firefox is currently in offline mode and can't browse the Web. Uncheck the "Work Offline" menu item, then try again." THERE IS NO MENU, THERE IS NO WORK OFFLINE MENU ITEM. THERE IS NO WAY TO CORRECT THIS GLITCH. THERE IS NO WAY TO GET BACK TO EARLIER VERSION OF FIREFOX. If Mozilla can't fix this, I can't use firefox. How can I disable the Work Offline option and get Firefox back online?

You would do better to post a question of our own.

To work online read my post above. Note the firefox button is the orange or gold button (purple in Private Browsing mode) on the top left of the screen that tends to display by default, and when clicked opens other menu items

It is easy to downgrade but probably better to just customise things slightly, as I explained in a recent post <-- clickable link --
