First, start TB and click Help>moretroubleshootinginformation. Scroll down to Profiles and click 'about:profiles; This will show you where your profile is and its name. Write that down and exit TB. Next, you need an external storage location available. Copy the profile to that location. After you reformat your computer, install Thunderbird. Do NOT start TB. Copy the backed-up profile to anywhere on the drive. Feel free to rename folder if desired. From desktop, press the Windows key and the 'R' key. This opens a command window. In that, enter thunderbird.exe -p That starts the profile manager On that screen, click 'create profile' On next screen, click Next On next screen, enter a name, e.g. PROFILE, or keep the default as shown. Then, after doing that, click the 'choose profile' and select the profile you copied after reformatting. You're done.

Ok, I see I will format my windows hard drive and i have emails on my Thunderbird application need to preserve them, how can i do that ? taking on consideration that the app installed on the same windows drive partition i need to format. also be informed that the registered email on the app,I have no access for it any more, I only have the stored emails at, I want to keep. I need steps, please
