How do you answer you own question? Anyway: Blimey, I have sorted it. You need more than just profiles (As far as this layman can tell) to transfer your emails etc. If you have an out of date back up delete the thunderbird folder users\username\appdata\roaming\thunderbird then paste the thunderbird folder from your out of date back up in it's place then paste your up to date profiles over the same folders within the thunderbird folder...sorted. Crikey! It took me ages to work this out myself I have found my thunderbird profiles and have followed exactly (Tried 3 times) the advise in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/bm/questions/1273478 but when I open thunderbird it still looks like a new intallation and there is no sign of my profile emails etc. Is the problem that i am trying to transfer data from an older version of Thunderbird? My old laptop (Also windows 10) had Thunderbird 1st intalled in February 2020. Please help! My old windows 10 laptop died. The hardrive is fine and i have it connected to my new computer with a wavlink. I cannot find my thunderbird profiles on it. I have tried everything suggested on the internet. Please help!
