Hi!

My system: Win7, FF79.0 32-bit, ru

  1. After updating from version 78.0.2, Google and Youtube sites stopped opening normally:
  2. After opening the browser everything works fine.
  3. A few minutes later, errors about blocking downloads from Google resources appear in the console (gstatic, ytimg, google-analytics, googlevideo, etc.).

Reason: "CORS request did not succeed - Third-party request blocked: single source policy denies reading remote resource" or "CORS Failed". Also suggestions from Google in the search bar stop working.

  1. After a while, these sites stop opening at all.

Reason: "This error page has no error code in its security info" in the console on the page "Error establishing secure connection" (connection-not-secure).

Only restarting the browser helps. Disabling add-ons, resetting cache and cookies does not help. Downgrade to version 78.0.2 is not possible - the profile may crash :(

Please, help!

Hi laticq,

This definitely seems to be an issue related to some ad blockers. I won't get into the technical nitty gritty of this issue or denounce certain ad blockers, but I will suggest using only Mozilla recommended extensions. Especially in regards to ad blockers. uBlock Origin is excellent, stable, trusted and easy on resources.

My advice is to completely remove any extensions, then restart Firefox and see if the problem persists. If it does, I would uninstall Firefox and only install from the official site here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

If the problem stops after removing all extensions, you can add them back one at a time and see which one may be causing the issue.

I nor Mozilla will ever suggest installing and using an older version of Firefox.

...

Thx, la3amon, but No it didn't solve my problem.

In the developer tools (F12) on the "Network" tab, if uBlock Origin is blocking, it is displayed as "Blocked by uBlock Origin". In my case, only "Blocked" is displayed. I disabled and removed extensions and more magic things. Did not help...

The screenshots show the course of events and blocking. The same thing is repeated on all sites related to Google. No problems were noticed on other sites!

Are you experiencing censorship due to location? Are you using a VPN? If not, get one you can trust. I have used many over the years and am now using the new Mozilla VPN in which all traffic goes through Mullvad's servers and they have a strict no-logs policy.

However, the Mozilla VPN does not multi-hop in the same sense that OpenVPN protocols do. Mozilla VPN uses WireGuard which I've found to be very effective in some aspects and not so much in others. This is not an ad for the Mozilla VPN, but I do like it's simplicity but do not like its lack of in depth protocol tweaking.

Wish I had a simple answer for you. Peace.

I don't use VPN or proxy. The network is in excellent condition.

Everything works for a few minutes, then this incomprehensible blocking begins. I restart the browser - it works, a few minutes later - it does not work.

In Google Chrome, sites work without problems.
