Hello,

Thunderbird just updated itself without asking and now all my emails look like they've disappeared - they haven't, they're in my profile folder, but just not displaying. New messages have downloaded but again, nothing is displaying.

I've read other articles which say it's a problem with using the default profile, so I've duplicated my profile and told Thunderbird to use the new profile. According to other articles, everything should reappear upon restarting the program, but it hasn't. The only thing on the left of my screen is 'Get Messages', no local folders etc.

Can someone please give me a little help getting the folders to reappear?

Thank you in advance! Justin

There is a known bug, in some cases the global database file is causing everything to not load.

  • Exit Thunderbird.
  • Access Profile name folder usually in this location for Windows OS:
  • C:\Users\<Windows user name>\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\<Profile name>\

'profiles name' folder is usually called 'xxxxxxx.default' where the x's are letters and numbers.

  • locate and delete this file: global-messages-db.sqlite

Restart Thunderbird.

If that fails then try the info at this blog. https://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com/

I had this problem as well, which triggered with the update to 68.4.1. My profile was in a different location, but I deleted the global file as directed, restarted Thunderbird, and all returned to normal. Thanks for the save!

Unfortunately, this has not changed my issue that no contents of any folder are displayed. Point of clarification, unread messages show, read messages do not. If I repair the folder, all messages appear. As soon as I change focus to another folder and then go back to the original that I just repaired, no messages. My customer is running 68.7 on Windows 10 v1903. Any more suggestions please??
