I recently had to uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird. Inboxes for both my email addresses have now been restored, however I cannot resore the sent mail - help

I have an Acer laptop with Windows 10. Because of malfunctions I had had to uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird. At first there was trouble getting all my old incoming mail for my 2 email addresses to load, but finally these loaded themselves, in part painfully slowly, but fine they are there. My sent mail is not. Following directions I have found 2 profiles and examined them as carefully as possible. The larger one is now much reduced in size and I assume this was where the incoming mail was stored. I found one subheading for sent mail in one profile for one of the the email addresses but it was empty. I could not find one at all for the other. Where is my sent mail which is quite important? Further query: if incoming mail is transferred from the profile to the newly installed Thunderbird rather than just copied from it, does this mean it is no longer backed up?

Prior to all the problems did you use Pop or IMAP mail accounts?

Now all is installed again, what type of mail account are you currently using Imap or POP ?
