It would be helpful if the 'There are no new messages' notice in the bottom bar lasted a lot longer.

It normally takes a half-minute or so for my Thunderbird 60.9.0 (32-bit) to interface with my ISP's e-mail service (Yahoo mail). Rather than stare at an uninformative screen, I would prefer to do other things. Often I return to Thunderbird's interface after a minute or so and find no indication that a connection was secured. There is a message that appears and is gone like a flash, but you have to be paying careful attention to see it go by. I'm suggesting it would be reasonable to leave that message visible a lot longer, if not until the next time the application is triggered by the user or by the clock. You might consider making the English more elegant, also; I believe the most correct message would be 'There is no new message.' Some talented developer could earn my gratitude with these simple changes. Thanks for all your work on this project to date!

There was an add-on, mailtweak, no longer available, that had an option to set the time of display in the Status Bar. In its absence, the best I can suggest is to open Tools/Activity Manager and view the status of recent connections.
