Hi Boudica
This forum has been reverted temporarily to the old Kitsune version because of unsolved issues with the Lithium version that we did migrate to on February 7. This older version recognizes Firefox 53 as beta, but Firefox 53 is the current release and the current beta is Firefox 54.0b3. So you have the right version at the moment and there is nothing to worry.
There had been a temporary glitch that caused Firefox 52 users to get an update offered to the Firefox 52 ESR version. Only users on XP and Vista should be using this ESR version because their platform is no longer supported in 53 and later Firefox versions.

The only way to switch the update channel is to install the full version of another update channel (release, beta, developer edition, nightly).
You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (50.1.0) in all languages and all operating systems here:
My problem just started when I was prompted to update to version 52.0.2 esr, (I think that's what it said). Before I had a chance to update at all, I was prompted to update to version 53, which is referenced by other users as "beta". I've NEVER done anything "beta" in Firefox. What can I do to get back to the update first offered (version 52.0.2 "esr" (I think it said "esr".
PLEASE, PLEASE HELP.
