At the top right of by browser is a star, a box with horizontal lines, an arrow pointing down, a house, 3 colored dots... I understand that a large portion of our population never learned how to read, but is there a way to change these symbols to words to make it easier to navigate. I would rather not hover the cursor over each hieroglyph to read what each does.

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • make sure you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Do you mean that you want to see labels instead of only icons on the toolbars?

You can look at the Classic Theme Restorer extension to customize the appearance and restore features used in older Firefox versions.

  • you can check out the settings of the CTR extension via its Options/Preferences button on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" page.
  • you can find extra toolbar buttons and more toolbar settings including a setting for labels+icons in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize)

setting for labels+icons in Customize (3-bar Firefox menu button > Customize) . That was it! I now have the word "back" instead of an arrow. And the word "bookmark" instead of a star in a box. This is easy to navigate now. Thanks!!!
