I have a macbook Pro 2007, upgraded to Firefox 44.02. I refreshed x1, now an exel file won't open

I have a budget file in Exel that I use almost daily. I click it open and the view in the preview menu blinks but the file does not open. I have an "Old Firefox Data" file folder on my desktop from the "refresh" when my bank info was not working. I don't know what to do with that "old Data" file info or which part of that info I need. Also, my preferences are frozen and settings can't be changed. I also can't change the toolbar to put the back n forth arrows on the end where I like them.

I don't know what to do with that "Old" Data File, do I need that data? Do I need All that data or just some of that data and which data specifically? If I refresh again will I get more data I don't know what to do with?

I need to talk to a Firefox rep but I can't find a phone number for them. I have already wasted an afternoon with the banking problem, now I am here again. This is frustrating, I am not an expert on Firefox and would like to talk to one that knows how to fix this problem without taking my whole day. How long does it take to get an answer from support? Do I wait at my computer?

This folder is created when you reset your current profile. The FAQ explains that at the end: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-to-fix-most-problems

Whe you reset your profile, only private data are saved, addons and prefs are reset.
