Usually all that s requires is to create an exception in your anti virus program for your profile folder . This will stop it locking files Thunderbird is trying to use.

Also sometime an add-on can go rogue with a new version. So try Thunderbird safe mode. It is in the help menu as restart with add-ons disabled)

I put it in safe mode and it still came up with the error messages.  :(
