Could you describe which bar has the problem? For example:

  • Firefox's address bar (which is connected to your default search engine)
  • Firefox's search bar (which displays multiple search engine choices when you type in it)
  • Firefox's built-in home page search bar
  • Firefox's new tab page search bar
  • Google home page (https://www.google.com/)

Or is this a problem with an add-on toolbar?
