I have many emails on my hard drive saved as .html files. Firefox opens the <strike>next</strike> text contained in them but not the pictures. Is there any way to fix this so I can also see the pictures contained in these emails?

That's "Firefox opens the text contained in them", not "next" Sowwy, typo!

You would have to check if there is a corresponding _files folder with those images as Firefox would create if you save an HTML page and use "Web page, complete" to save the page with all content. If you have an HTML file with the images embedded a cid: links (src="cid:image") then this won't work in Firefox and you would have to open the files in an email program like Thunderbird to see the images.

Thanx for trying cor-el, but I don't understand your reply - it's way too technical for me. Isn't there something simplier I can do to get pictures (already saved to my hard drive as .html files), to appear, when I use the "open with" Firefox option???

Did you try to open the files with an email program?

If the email program doesn't show the images as well then it is likely that you have lost this data.

You may not have saved the page as "Web Page, complete" or you have lost this extra content otherwise. If you use "Web Page, complete" then all other data including the images is saved in a separate files folder that has the same name as the HTML file, but has _files appended to the name. Windows normally threats these as connected files.

Hi cor-el -

I don't think you understand from where I'm saving these pictures. I'm saving them from AOL email and from my own ACDSee picture files on my own hard drive that are within my own email, using the .html file extension. When I try to use "open with Firefox", the text from my AOL email is there, but the picture is simply a square box with a little red or black "x" in the upper left-hand corner.

They are not being saved from the web, and therefore, don't need to be saved as "Webpage Complete". All of my other browsers, i.e., Opera, IE, and AOL's Chrome browser, open these files with no problem, but Firefox won't. There's the "rub"!

Uh oh, now Firefox is opening properly and showing the pics! May have just been a temporary glitch?! In any event, I'm grateful, and I thank you for trying to help! If it recurs, I'll be back...
