Trash folder disappeared
I use Mozilla Thunderbird on my MacBook. But the Trash folder has disappeared. Consequently, when I delete messages, they disappear. Where, I do not know... The problem is: Sometimes, I change my mind and want to take another look at messages I recently trashed. I can't do that now, because they disappear the moment I click delete. Oops: I just realized, it seems like the messages are stored on the Thunderbird account on my telephone! The trash file there is full. No wonder my phone is slow... My question is: How do I find the hidden Trash folder on my Mac?

So the 'More Trash is not just a renamed folder.
Other than deleting this file via webmail account: - Inbox/Inbox/More Trash (which seems to be a subfolder in the Inbox mentioned above) This folder is empty.
I would leave well alone as it is working.

You mention Trash on phone, so I presume you are using an IMAP mail account.
check to see if you have actually subscribed to see the Trash folder.

How to Subscribe to see a folder; right click on the mail account name located in your left Folder Pane. click on 'Subscribe' A list will appear, showing you which folders you have subscribed to see. Make selection and click on OK.

Yes, now things have really improved! Suddenly, my Trash folder reappared, inside a Folder (in italics) called Inbox, in the regular Inbox. Strange. But the magic is that the delated e-mails actually gather up in this folder! Thank you so much for the Subscription tips. It was clearifying.
Now, the only problem is that the Trash folder (which I obviously must have renamed as "More Trash" when this problem started to manifest a few months ago), is now in a Inbox folder inside the Inbox. But this is a very minor problem that I think I shall just learn to live with...
Recheck the subscribed folders. Look for the folder called 'More Trash', then unsubscribe from seeing it.
Then logon to the webmail account using a browser and delete the 'More Trash' folder.
I don't dare to delete the "More Trash" folder as this is were the deleted e-mails actually end up now, before I empty the trash. The "More Trash" folder even has the correct icon (the trash can symbol). If I delete this folder, I am afraid my e-mails disappear again!
Hm. I opened my e-mail program in the web brower, and deleted a few of my empty folders. There, I saw that Thunderbird has a few fixed folders: Inbox, Trash, Sent and Drafts. My Trash box is empty.
Why the deleted e-mails don't end up there, but in my self-constructed "More trash" folder is a mystery to me.
Just a check: Tools > Account Settings > Server Settings for the imap mail account Under 'When I delete a mesage' Does it say: Move it to this folder: 'Trash' or 'More TRash' ?
In that list, the original Trash folder doesn't appear. So I have to choose "Inbox/More trash" in the options list and click OK.
BUT when I go back and check the server settings again, this selection I just did is deleted/not registred, and the dialogue box again invites me to choose where the deleted mails should be put.

Sounds like you have one Trash folder which you have named as 'More Trash' in the Thunderbird view.
Right click on 'More Trash' folder and select 'Properties' In the General Information tab It will say 'Location'. Put cursor anywhere in that field and then use the right arrow direction key to move to the end - keep going to the right as not all of the info will fit in that box - some is out of view. When you get to the end, is the last word /Trash ?
If yes, above 'location', where it says 'Name', change this to say Trash. then click on OK
Now go back into Account Settings and select Move it to this folder: Trash folder option. click on OK
Unfortunately, it is not possible for me to change the name of the "More trash" folder, not its location in the "General information" window. The program doesn't react when I try to write/erase.
Try this: Go into Offline mode. Click on 2 blue screen icons in bottom left of Status bar - they will change to 2 black screen icons when in Offline mode.
Select another folder to see emails eg: Inbox. Just gets the view away from the More TRash folder. then Right click on 'More Trash' folder and select 'Properties' In the General Information tab Try to change the Name to Trash Name: Trash Do not change anything in the 'Location' part. This must stay as it is. Click on OK

In my webmail account accessed via a browser, there are multiple folders that I have made, a few months ago, to try to solve the problem...
All of them are in the Inbox folder: - Inbox (There is problem showing this map, according til Thunderbird message ERROR.service.mail.000006 ) This folder is empty. - Inbox/Inbox (There is problem showing this map, according til Thunderbird message ERROR.service.mail.000006 ) This folder is empty. - Inbox/More Trash (where the deleted message actually end up) - Inbox/Inbox/More Trash (which seems to be a subfolder in the Inbox mentioned above) This folder is empty.
In addition, as mentioned, the original Trash folder appears in the web browser, but it is empty, as the deleted messages all end up in the Inbox/More Trash folder "further down" on the list (in the Inbox).
