Firefox sluggish on Wordpress admin, Canva and after awhile on everything

using mac os x. on wordpress admin post entering, canva site,firefox is sluggish. and usually it is like a truck. not a snappy start like chrome safari or opera. i tried to open with safe start. the problem still there

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
