Hi. My main email address was accidently removed. All my previous emails are stored locally thanks to Thunderbird IMAP syncing up to now. I'm currently in touch with my ISP in order to restore my email address. This will be done in a few days : I am going to get my email address back, but all the emails on the servers will not be restored. Therefore, when the server is restored, it will be empty.

I fear that when it's done, during the next IMAP sync, my Thunderbird will delete all local emails.

What can I do to prevent that, or circumvent it ? I would like for the local state to be uploaded to the server, not the distant state to delete everything locally.

Does Thunderbird have disc storage space limit and if so how do I know what my limit is and how much is used? When I just sent an email, a popup said it could not be saved to the local sent folder because maybe I reached my storage limit. But I cannot find anywhere that shows me what my storage limit is or how much I have used. I appreciate any help you can offer, Thank you.

If you are using the release level of 153, and prefer not to see the Thundermail menu entry, do these two things:

what and who is meadow and why am i getting comcast mail sooner than thundershower it is just to slowit used to come up so much faster id get the new mail quicker now its so slow aand i do not want to uninstall and reinstall and lose my contacts and my extensions please if you know why so slow please let me know i know i sent one like this earlier but i though maybe gibving it time would be better but no it is not

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: Your message has been rejected because you have been detected sending high likelyhood spam.. Please check the message and try again.

This is the message I get everytime I try to send and email.

Used Outlook Mac 2011 for years. It crashed and could not retrieve from Time Machine. Lost everything since 2021. Apple was able to restore my calendar in Calendar app but I'd like to have integrated app and am trying Thunderbird for email. I would love to use it's calendar and contacts. I am nearly 90 and it's hard to learn new tricks but I'm trying. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

The arrow is tiny and hard for me to see (as well as the vertical bar for selecting text). In other programs it is quite large. I have the LXQt cursor size set to 60. How can I increase the size for TB? How can I make it invert color so as to have good contrast always?

I get the messgae 'Unable to write email to the mailbox...make sure the file system allows you write priviledges and you have enough disk space.' When I looked at the errors Thunderbird recorded I found thei:

I recently had to restore my thunderbird app as I had issues with my laptop. I do not run Avast...I have tried the 'repair' option in folder properties in thunderbird. Nothing seems to help. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me. I have been using Thunderbird for....well it has been aloooong time and I have never had any issues with it previously. I am running WIn 11 Pro.

Bug?: In Address Book, I create a new Group list. In several of my Contacts, the individual has two different email addresses. I successfully add a person with their Primary email address.

  BUT, when I try to add a secondary email (i.e., add the same person a second time but using their non-primary email address), the Group List will re-list the primary address a second time and not accept a secondary email address.
 Is there a fix for this?

Subject: Persistent Column and Folder Layout Issues — Not Being Saved Between Sessions

This is a follow-up to my previous support requests regarding two ongoing problems that significantly impact daily usability.

Column Settings I manage multiple accounts, and my preferred column layout is: Starred, Read Status, Attachment, Subject, From, and Date/Time. I do not use Threads, Correspondents, or Spam Status columns. Despite setting these preferences repeatedly, Thunderbird fails to retain them. Every day I must spend time reconfiguring columns across some or all of my accounts — the state varies unpredictably from one session to the next. This is a persistent, daily frustration that costs meaningful time. Most other major email clients save and reliably maintain column preferences. I'd expect Thunderbird to do the same.

Folder Panel Layout Two problems occur regularly when Thunderbird loads:

Folder order — Standard system folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, All Mail, Trash, Spam) should appear at the top of each account. Instead, Sent, All Mail, Trash, and/or Spam are frequently scattered among custom folders, with no apparent consistency.

Folder expansion — Most or all folders load in an expanded state, exposing every nested sub-folder regardless of whether they contain unread mail. This creates unnecessary visual clutter and requires manual collapsing each session.

Again, this behavior is uncommon in other widely-used email clients. Summary These are not one-time glitches — they recur daily and represent a significant usability gap. I'd appreciate confirmation that these are known issues being tracked, or guidance on a reliable fix. Reformatting the interface every morning is not a reasonable expectation for users.

I have 8 email accounts in Thunderbird. When I click on an embedded link on a webpage to send an email (such as "send us an email"), I have to manually change which email I want to send from. Some times I forget to do that. How do I set Thunderbird to one of my other email accounts when I open a weblink to compose and send an email?

I have a suspision Thunderbird selects the "top" email account in my list of accounts, but I thought I would ask here first.

Hello, I created a first account for Mailo email (no problem).

I created a second account for Orange email, but when I get to the contact and calendar search stage, it just keeps spinning (see attached Orange 1). Clicking "ignore" opens a window (see Orange 2). If I click "continue," the account is created and seems to work, but...? Indeed, both Mailo and Orange use IMAP port 993. For the past few days, I've been trying to get this account set up properly, but I haven't found anything specific online.

I've repeated the process several times, even uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird, but nothing has changed. I'm starting to get confused. I even think I deleted both accounts and started the setup process with the Orange one, but it's doing the same thing even though there's no other account. I should mention that the POP/IMAP option is enabled in Orange email.

Thunderbird indicates that I'm not using a primary password and when I ask to see the password for my gmail account it asks for a PIN. I have no record of a PIN for Thunderbird. I'm instructed to go to setting>accounts to change the PIN. but cannot find it: settings>account settings lead me nowhere.

Trying to send 3 different emails. Hit send and get: 1) Your message was sent but a copy was not placed in your sent folder (Sent) due to network or file access errors. 2) Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com timed out. 3) Your draft message was not copied to your drafts folder (Drafts) due to network or file access errors. How can I get these problems fixed?

My address books have disappeared from Thunderbird I had the usual Personal and connected lists plus a couple of named lists. I was told that they were probably still available MY Profile and if I asked Thunderbird to import them as an SQlite file I'd get them back. It hasn't worked. How do I do it?

The update 140.13 messed up my computer-again. My Mozilla Thunderbird emails, folders are gone, my address book is still there. All personal email messages and folders are gone. I am a member of the Foster Care Review Board and I can not recreate my folders that were saved with information. I have information on the state court system, but now the business and information messages are gone. They are just as important as to what the court system has. This happened with the last update and it was a horrible mess. I was never able to get anything at all back from Thunderbird. I had to set up emails again recreate email folders and individual saved folders to move forward. This time, like the last update, the computer keeps crashing when Firefox is open, the update changed settings in Firefox and on my computer. Wiped out restore points and my partition drive. I need to get rid of this update and don't tell me how dangerous going backwards is because what happened now is absolutely worse. I run anti-spyware, clearing cache, etc. on a daily basis. I have anti-virus programs running 24-7. No problems whatsoever until this update. Someone please tell me how to get rid of it. I am looking for another email program and another browser. I have used Firefox forever, but I am done, moving on to something that doesn't change my settings, delete my email programs or crash my computer. I do not need or want this stress. I am using Windows 10. Any insight to restore my Thunderbird folders so I can move them to a non Mozilla email program?

On Saturday morning 27 June 2026 I tried to login my Orcon email account via Thunderbird (which I have been using for a long time). But my login didn't work, I got a message saying "login to POP3.orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed." On 30th June 2026 I reported the problem to Orcon.

Orcon gave me the following settings for Thunderbird. I have done that and even made a new account: Incoming Server Type: IMAP Mail Server: imap.orcon.net.nz Port: 143 SSL: Off Authentication: On (username and password required)

Outgoing SMTP Server: Mail Server: smtp.orcon.net.nz Port: 25 SSL: Off Authentication: Off

Since then I have spent many hours and going around in circles with Orcon's Technical Support to resolve this, but no luck. They blame Thunderbird. I used Thunderbird Troubleshoot Mode. The message that comes up reads: login to server mail orcon.net.nz with username habitation failed. Please can you check that your server settings above are correct? And if there is a bug? Irma
