Been using Firefox for some time and like it, but still don't know how to do stuff. Not a techie so please send simple step by step instructions. It said to look for help on page but there was no "help" button. It's still more complicated than it should be for us "dummies." Got a "dummies" page for Firefox?

Hi Muzzik, the idea is to use the built-in updater in the "About Firefox" dialog. Here's how to find it:

Firefox on Windows can have two different menus. Which one do you have?

  • "Firefox" button in the upper left with a little downward pointing triangle and an orange background (purple in a private window)
  • classic menu bar (File, Edit, View...)

If you have the orange Firefox button, click that and look for Help on the right side, expand the menu, and click About Firefox.

If you have the classic Menu Bar, use the Help menu at the right end and click About Firefox.

Hi Muzzik,

Not a problem. Since you already have version 28 open, click on Firefox > Help > About Firefox.

This will open up a page were the update will load. When it is done, click that button and the update will be applied. You will be asked to restart and you will be all updated!

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Firefox's About dialog menu can be accessed in a couple different ways:

  • orange Firefox button > hover over Help > About Firefox
  • classic menu bar: Help > About Firefox

In Firefox 29, the orange Firefox button is replaced with an application menu button (3 horizontal bars) and Help is now a ? icon at the bottom of the menu.

I don't know where/what page I'm supposed to be on. Another person said to click on firefox and then help, but I don't know where that page is or how to get there.
