How can I remove a website which comes up when I start to make an entry in the web bar/
At the top bar where I can enter a full website, whenever I start by putting in "w", a list of websites that I have previously visited appears below. For personal privacy, I want to be able to remove these totally. Using the Tools and clicking on "Remove recent history" only removes those items that I have googled and does not remove the web sites that I have described above. How can I remove these?

select the address which you want to delete and just press DELETE key
If, by the "delete" key you mean the key on the keyboard which has a left pointing arrow, which I use to delete errors in typing or to delete unwanted emails, then this has no effect on removing the web sites as described in my original question. The blue highlighting simply disappears but the unwanted web site remains. If the left pointing arrow key is not the "delete" key which I should have pressed, then which is the correct key?
As yet, no suggestion as to how to solve my problem
Tools>Options>Privacy - In "Location bar" "when using the location bar, suggest", drop-down menu select "nothing".
- Highlight an entry in the drop down list
- Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.
Entries in the location bar drop down list with a yellow (blue on Mac) star at the right end are bookmarks.
You can remove such a bookmarked item that shows in the list if you open that url in a tab and click the yellow star in the location bar.
This will open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and you can click the Remove button to remove the bookmark if you want to remove such a bookmarked entry.
Thank you SO much. It does look as though my problem has been solved.
