win xp Firefox extra options blocks
I am using windows xp. using firefox stops working after hitting extra/options. nothing works anymore/no options display.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in Safe mode:
- Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
- Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems. See:
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Hi Cor-el I made a new profile,but problem still exist. I wonder what it can be?
Do a clean (re-)install:
- Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
- Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
- It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Hi Cor-el I very much appreciate your help several times I did a clean (re-)install. Deleting all files.But no results with the problem. maybe I must go and regedit some files too. thanks Guido
Did you check if there are extensions installed by default in the new profile?
giving up on mozilla firefox I now installed Seamonkey and it works perfect. I used Opera for a while till recently Gmail only displayed on html . Thanks for all your help Guido.
