Firefox suddenly won't open on Windows 10 laptop
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am suddenly no longer able to open Firefox on my Windows 10 laptop. I have tried starting it as an administrator, and also tried uninstalling and re-installing the app. When I click on the icon to launch the app, nothing happens.
According to the Windows Compatibility troubleshooter, Firefox is somehow incompatible, but it was working fine just a few days ago.
Your assistance in solving this issue would be appreciated.
Thanks and regards.

Did you recently uninstall an application that was using Visual C+ runtime components?
You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.
See "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022":
- https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
- https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe
You may also have to install the Visual Studio 2013 Redistributable Package. You need to reboot the computer.
I installed both the Visual Studio 2013 Redistributable Package and the latest version (2022?) of Visual Studio, rebooted the computer, and still no luck. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
Try to start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to see if that works.
- Windows: hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox
- Mac: hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
Tried to open in Troubleshooting mode as both regular user and administrator; still wouldn't open.
