I did not put a lock (padlock with red arrow) on a bookmark. The instructions in the popup box don't work. Firefox put on the padlock and I want them to take it off! FRANCES JONES

I don't understand the instruction. All I want to know is how to remove the padlock that is on one of my bookmarks. You put it on - tell me how to get it off. Frances Jones

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

I have not heard of a 'Locked Bookmark' before.

Right-click on the bookmark and select Properties. Does anything there help?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I tried the Shift start with Firefox. Still couldn't unlock the bookmark. I tried hitting the Options lines and the Question Mark. Nothing. You locked that thing - take it off! Frances Jones

Would you please provide us with a screenshot of that   'locked bookmark',   like FredMcD asked you to earlier   ? I think we're talking about something else than just a bookmark, here.

Can you attach a screenshot?

When you attach a screenshot then we at least know what you are talking about in case we misunderstand.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

I don't understand any of the suggestions. I don't know how to make a screen shot. I'm forgetting the whole thing and will do without the site, although it's something I care about. Frances Jones

You know, earlier I said that I thought that this is not about a 'locked bookmark'.
Could it be that you are talking about a page that you are on   after   you have clicked on a bookmark   ?
In that case :   that'll be easy to explain and nothing to worry about. It's obvious that you can't provide a screenshot,   -   that's okay. Just try to explain what you see : This padlock with the red arrow   -   is it in the upper left corner on the address bar  ?
