Cannot open any download of newer Flash - it insists that it is in error and sends report to Microsoft

When Mozilla stopped FlashPlayer on 6/30, I cannot download and open the "new" Flash version (18.0.0.###) so that I can see videos and other "scripts" on webpages. Even the 'checking for plugins' on the Mozilla page will not open - HELP! I am running Firefox on an older computer with WXP, SP2 (and I cannot 'upgrade to SP3 without a major foul-upped crash, resulting in broken drives, so don't ask). Flash ran just fine with version 17 on my computer - no crashes or slowness - so why can't I stay with that version?

There was a security exploit with Flash, for your security, Mozilla has made click-to-activate. By updating to the latest version, your issues should be resolved. If you're unable to access the plugins update site, you can download from Adobe directly.

Make sure you are accessing the correct plugins site; https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/

Hi Andrew,I am definitely on the correct plug-in site, BUT how long does it take to download the list of my plug-ins? If I can't see them, I can't "click to fix". I have waited over an hour for something to happen - the little wheel just keeps on a-turnin'...Videos on Vimeo work fine - smooth as silk - Flash videos have always been choppy at best and I have to use a different computer to see them properly.Since it is not convenient to travel 8 miles to look at a three minute video, it would be nice to get this fixed.

Other than the latest versions, Adobe Flash is blocked in Firefox by Mozilla due to known security faults that have been exploited by "ne'er do wells".

With WinXP SP2 or 3, you might be better off using the Extended Support Release - Flash Player 13.0.0.309 . The later versions have features that are for Vista and newer Windows OS's; features not usable on WinXP. https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html - then scroll 3/4 of the way down that page.

First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Then download the Flash Plugin version of your choice from here: Select the Windows > Plugin-based browsers - the EXE version. https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Run the Flash uninstaller program, then reboot your PC. Then install the Plugin version of Flash. So you'll have a clean installation of Flash for Firefox.
