Firefox is super slow on my Macbook Pro. No problems with Safari. I've tried clearing cache and cookies, starting in safe mode, no luck.

I guess the next thing would be to re-install Firefox. Instrux are not very clear at mozilla - do I need to delete it first, then install latest version, or not? I really would like to keep using Firefox but getting very discouraged and considering different browser.

Replying to my own question! I did delete and reinstall, but it hasn't fixed the issue - what to do?

Try to disable IPv6 (check for other possible causes as well).

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
