Why have some of my bookmarks suddenly no longer work and have become impossible to reset or remove?

Suddenly, about 4 or 5 of my many bookmarks no longer respond. Neither can they be removed. When I cllick on "properties" of the bookmark, the form is blank! I am unable to re-bookmark the site...Firefox does not give me the option to "bookmark this page." I can only access the websites by entering the site in the address bar.

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

Type about:support in the address bar and press enter.

Under the page logo on the left side you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To it’s right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.
