Firefox is quick when logged on with my user profile but page loading/data transfer is very slow for other users. I've tried all the fix suggestions I can find and have checked all settings are the same for ff for each user, even opening in safe mode makes no difference.

Seems to be related to the user profile.

Thank you. I had done the first steps up to turning off hardware acceleration. Completed this next step but problem persists.

Strangely I've noticed that the same issue arises on IE11 - fine for me (hardly ever use it) but painfully slow for the other user.

If all of your web stuff is slow;

  • 1 Have your provider test your line
  • 2 Possible add / wal-ware

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Sorry but have scanned for malware with zero results. I have MalwareBytes Premium and Avast Internet Security already installed. Scans are carried out regularly and full scans on both have zero results.

Internet broadband speed is high.

No problem with either Firefox or IE11 when logged on to computer as my own User(1). Problem of slow retrieval of page data for both browsers still exists on both User(2) and User(3)

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

See:

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that has effect.
