Malware on Firefox Download!
This week, with Microsoft's problem with Internet Explorer, I was advised to download and install Firefox. I now find that I have some malware ('Push"?) in my computer. Has anyone else experienced this and how do you get it off?
Thanks. 4/28/14 5:35 p.m.

Where did you get Firefox from as the Firefox web browser from mozilla.org does not come with anything bundled in.

hello, this sounds like you may have downloaded firefox from a bogus site which bundles the browser with ad&malware. please only download firefox from the official location at mozilla.org!
- go into the windows control panel/programs section, sort it by install-date and remove all entries that were installed around the time you added the presumably adware-bundled firefox. also have a look for other unwanted toolbars...
- run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.
- go to getfirefox.com and download a fresh installer for firefox. after installation go to firefox > addons > extensions and see if there are any toolbars listed - if so, reset the browser.

Could you provide more information about the malware detection?
Unfortunately, search engine results often list unofficial Firefox distributions bundled with other stuff, so if you aren't sure you got the official installer, please check the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, to see whether anything unexpected snuck in. Clicking the "Installed on" column heading to sort by date is helpful in detecting bundled items.
Or you can remove what you have and reinstall from: https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ (scroll down to your language)

Where did you download Firefox for Windows from?
I uploaded the Windows en-US version from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ to virus total and it was clean as should be with Detection ratio: 0 / 51
No version of Firefox for any OS from Mozilla.org has ever been bundled with any form of malware.
Thanks to Philipp, James and jscher2000 for your responses to my question. Apparently I downloaded it from the wrong site after looking up Firefox on Google. My Malwarebytes Pro found the junk when it did its scan today.
As you suggested, think I will uninstall Firefox tomorrow and go to the true Firefox site you indicated and download and reinstall. Will let you know how it turned out after I do a new scan with Malwarebytes.
Thanks again to all. 4/29/14 6:50 p.m.
Went to the correct Mozilla/Firefox site as you suggested and got it downloaded and installed. Working great now. Also got rid of the malware that came through on the first install from the bogus site -- at least I think I and Malwarebytes Pro got the stuff off. Again, thanks for your interest in my problem and your helpful advise.

I have that program too. I was installing from firefox and it ask if I wanted to install spigot and I decline it but it still got downloaded. I had 4 malware threats from firefox
I installed advanced system care but when you decline a toolbar it should honor that. I know all the programs that firefox has they can't protect us from everything....Same things goes with chrome. I had all these extension that got added and I didn't do anything to install them.
My computer is slow enough without having all these malware.
