Hi Murugan007, Hope all is well, I read the previous forum question and I understand that you are controlling updates going out to Firefox through AppGaurd and you would like to know how to extract the version of Firefox.
To do this you can right click the Firefox Application and click "About Firefox" or if you have it open already you can click "About Firefox" from the start menu. You can find the exact steps from the article that is specific to your Operating system. Find what version of Firefox you are using
At this time if you go to about:config in the browser you can set the values for updates in the values in this link[notifications in About:config]
I am not sure exactly how you would like to control the updates, but just for security purposes I cannot reccomend holding off on updates for too long. You can set up notifications in the about:config page as well.
If there are any other contributors that have any other things to add or clarify please do not hesitate. If there are any other questions we are happy to help.
Hi Murugan007,
As far as I can see you did not post in the thread you refer to (/questions/967802). Also you did not complete the troubleshooting information when asking the current question.
- I hope you did you succeed in finding the version you are using?
As you mention a customer requirement I presume that Firefox is being used in a corporate environment.
- Have you considered supporting your customer in using ESR ?
(Currently Fx17 based, and updates less frequently than standard versions) - see http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
P.S. The other big advantage is ESR receives security updates.
