have updated to new version, but everytime I open am told Im still running 3.6.9.
I open Firefox and page loads saying Im still running 3.6.9 and should update to 3.6.10. Have done this update (3 times!) but still opens saying I need to update. Also asks me to update Adobe which I have but it also keeps telling me to update. Driving me crazy,will discontinue using Mozilla if cannot get it fixed.

See updates reported when running newest version. For info your user agent string shows you have 3.6.10
What site is telling you that you are using 3.6.9, there are some sites out there that try to dupe people into installing a trojan or virus by telling them that they are running an old version of Firefox.
