Thunderbird just "contracted" (read 'deleted') almost my entire inbox. I need those e-mails! Please tell me how to get them back! And how to keep this from happening again.

I assume you mean compacted.

Have you read https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/compacting-folders

Because to be honest I have been repeating that information for more than a decade now. Mostly to Norton internet security users.

Yes, I meant 'compacted.' But what happened is that the contents of my Inbox simply disappeared. I can't find them. And I need them. How to restore them? Please advise.
