I can't login my Thunderbird - forgot my password
I have a new computer and I reinstalled all the software including Thunderbird, but now it's not recognizing my password and I can't even log in. Please help. I attach screenshots of my settings.

It doesn't appear that you're following all the steps. Let's review again. - In TB , click help>more troubleshooting information - scroll down to Profiles, click about:profiles - click 'create profiles' button - enter name, such as MYPROFILE - next, scroll to and select your desired profile folder - click finish, which should return to prior pane - the new MYPROFILE should now appear in list - click the button to set as default profile. Let me know.

Did you also reinstall a copy of the full profile folder? That will have all the account info and passwords. If you have that, we can help you reinstall. To confirm we're on the same page, it will help if you post a screenshot of the identified profile folder from Windows FIle Explorer so the files and folders are displayed. Let me know and we can go from there. This assumes that your profile has the correct passwords stored. If the passwords are, in fact, incorrect, you will need to establish new passwords from your email providers. Keep me posted.
Thanks for your reply. Where do I find the full profile folder? And I have a Mac, not Windows File explorer. I don't mind establishing new passwords as long as it works and as long as I can access my inbox. Thanks.
Start TB on old PC. Click help>more troubleshooting information. The next screen has Profile Folder partway down left panel. Click to open and it will display its location.
Thank you, I've located the folder (see screenshot) - but it's not allowing me to copy all the files into a pen drive to transfer them to the new laptop :/ What files do we need?
You need to shut TB down first. It is holding onto the files. After shutting TB down, then copy.
Thank you, I've saved the whole folder now. What next?
Copy to the same location on new MAC as it was on the old one. Then start tb, click Home tab. If menu bar isn't displayed, rightclick near top and tick Menu Bar on that menu. Then, click Help>more troubleshooting information and on next panel you may see the profile you installed. If not, click 'create profile' button, enter a new name first, e.g., newprofile, and then, after naming it, click the browse button to locate your profile. The TB panel with then show it and you can select to set as default.
Great, thanks. I've completed all the steps until the last one: how do I set the original profile folder to default?
Once selected from the 'create profile' step, it should appear in the listing of profiles with a button to select as default. If unsure, please do a screenshot of the panel from tools>more troubleshooting information>profiles.
OR, if you can start TB with command line of thunderbird.exe -p that will invoke profile manager, which also shows selection.
Thanks. I don't need to create a new profile, but when I open "Profile Folder" ("show in finder"), the one that appears by default is another one that was there in the new computer. If I choose the one from the old computer, it doesn't do anything, because when I reopen it again, it comes with the new default one. (Screenshot attached).
I can't do thunderbird.exe because I'm in a Mac, .exe is for PCs.
On that same screen, scroll down to Profiles and click About:Profiles to the right. That should show all profiles available with a button to select as default.
Thanks. It doesn't give me the option to save the new profile as default. Upon selecting the profile I want, it doesn't change anything. It keeps on selecting the other one. (See screenshots).
Try clicking 'create new profile'. On that menu, first enter a new name. This MUST be done prior to browsing and selecting your desired profile. After selecting it, it should appear as option on the screen you posted.
Did it, see it appears on the profile at the bottom in yellow :) What next? Thank you.

I have indeed done all the steps you've said. And I am happy to confirm that it is working now! :) It was just a matter of restarting the program :)
Thank you for guiding me through the whole process. Appreciated.
I am very pleased with your success. I now suggest you backup the ...\roaming\thunderbird folder so you won't get caught in this again. Regards..
