In Thunderbird there have been a lot of changes with regard to Address Books. Importing an Address Book now requires more steps. So maybe I'm not doing it right, but none of the "Add to" buttons work with an imported Address Book. They don't work with one address and they don't work with several selected addresses. I did find a workaround, though. I just go directly to the .csv file that I created the imported Address Book from, select all the email addresses that I want, copy them, and then paste them in the Bcc (or whatever other addressing field). Voila! There's no need to import Address Books when they don't work, right?

Dear Madam or Sir (Lady 1st): Thank you for your help.

I use Thunderbird Portable (V.91.13.0) on a USB key on a laptop under Windows 11. I received an update message "Cannot update automatically. Please down load, and we'll help you step-by-step." But, there's no clear instruction: how to update on a USB.

I downloaded V.102.3.0, turned off my TBP (as instructed), and then installed it. However, the desktop version on V.102.3.0 was mixed up with the TBP on the USB key. In other words, there're both <Thunderbird.exe> and <ThunderbirdPortable.exe> in the same folder. I managed to uninstall only the TB-V.102.3.0, so as to get back to TBP-V91.13.0.

I remembered, then, I could update while running the TBP by clicking on [HELP] > [About Thunderbird], then found a button: [Check for Update] in the popped up window. When I clicked it, the updating was automatically started. Today, however, I cannot find [Check for Update] there (Please see the attached photo). Could you kindly show me where I can find it? Also, could you kindly tell me how to update TB on the Portable App?

I am running Windows 10, Thunderbird 102.3.1 (64-bit). The menu is displayed! I am trying to change an email from spam. In doing the research on how to do this I found that I need to go to Tools>preferences. Preferences does not show in the tools menu. How do I correct this?

Sorry if this has been answered before but cannot find any info: On my AOL IMAP acct in Thunderbird there are multiple draft folders, DRAFT & DRAFTS. All drafts go to the DRAFTS folder. Not a biggie but would like to remove the unused DRAFT folder.

Also, same thing for the archive folder, ARCHIVE & ARCHIVES

Thunderbird has just upgraded. I've eventually got my emails back but now find I have this problem. This question has already been asked but is in archive now and the answer to it was to go to Account Settings and then Composition and Addressing and click on 'Automatically quote original message when replying' but that is already clicked, so I'm stumped. Any ideas anyone?

Autocomplete adds wrong nickname to email address

Sending and receiving to the email address works fine. It is only the display of the associated name which is weird.

The email address is (example) tomw@williamsfamily.com. The name associated in all my address books (including Gmail's contact list) is tom williams. But when Thunderbird displays who it is from/to, either in the address bar or in the received message, it attributes it to jennnwilliams. (Note the 3 ns.)

Jen Williams exists but but with a different address in the williamsfamily.com domain. And nowhere in any address book does it exist with 3 ns.

I have searched thru all the address books and have found no 3 n Jens. Nor have I found any entrys with tomw@ listed as anything but tom williams.

It is merely an annoyance but where can I look for a solution?

The problem started about a week ago, with me receiving some but not all new incoming e-mails twice. But since yesterday I got all 460 mails from the webmail server transferred to the inbox and today I got these 460 mails again. So now I have 920 mails in the inbox multiple times. Some of them twice some of them three times and some four times. I use POP3 and have a web based email I can access for that account, but there seems everything normal. Is there a problem with sychronising the mails or should I just switch the account to IMAP?

Hi,

I'm using Thunderbird 102.3.1 on Windows 10.

I start writing a text in thunderbird, then copy/paste an element from a bullet list from a Word document next after the text I just wrote (without line break). If I undo (ctrl + Z) my action the entire paragraph I was working on (until previous line break) disappears and is definitely lost, I cannot get it back.

This is quite annoying, especially if the paragraph is long...

Anybody already faced this issue?

When I updated to V102.3.0 some of the emails listed do not show anything in the "From" column or the "Corrspondents" column. As you will see in the attached image I have selected one of these and the content at the bottom right shows a valid email address (office@scslandscapes.co.uk). I think the name only shows if the sender is in my address book

My computer updated Thunderbird to 102.3.0 (64-bit) on September 22. I'm confused about what happened, because if it's the update, I would've expected it to happen right away!

I've attached a picture of Thunderbird on my computer. I had over a dozen folders. Now zero--not even Inbox. No email is showing. It looks like I can send email. My profiles are still there. I don't get an error message when I ask the program to download email, but nothing shows in the message window. Everything is set up for POP accounts, so "subscribing" isn't an issue. The new menu that's supposed to show up on the left according to your release notes is missing, though it's checked on the menu.

What is going on, and how do I fix it?

I upgraded from Thunderbird version 91 to 102. The Inbox tab shows one of my two email accounts but not the other. How do I add my second email account to the inbox tab so I can see both by email accounts at the same time, as I previously did with all earlier versions of Thunderbird?

Problem solved by closing and restarting Thunderbird!

I am scripting the creation of e-mails using the command line

-compose ...

and now trying to incorporate embedding certain images. I created a routine to encode the images in base64 and build the proper HTML img tag to include in the 'body' argument.

It works flawlessly for png and jpg images, but bombs for bmp, tiff, gif, ... and am trying to understand why. Is this a limitation of the command line? Is there something I've missed in the documentation somewhere?

I've validated with online source that the output HTML is accurate. I've even saved the output as an HTML file and it renders just fine in any web browser, it is just the 'thunderbird -compose -body ...' that can't seem to handle it.

I am running the latest version of Thunderbird (installed a fresh copy today).

If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear it.

For a decade have been contented with storing important emails by dragging them to my designated T'bird subject folders, but now after a mental memory disturbance I find myself unable to rediscover how to do it. Mercifully the folders are still undisturbed and very useful, but they will soon become deficient unless you can help me.

I just upgraded from Thunderbird 68 to 102, and now it frequently asks me to re-enter my email passwords when I open a folder or send a message - but not every time, just sometimes (several times a day at least). I don't want it to save the passwords (I don't want it to automatically be logged in when I open Thunderbird), but I do want it to stay logged in to a given account once I enter the password, like my old installation of Thunderbird did. I believe this is only happening for accounts that use "normal password" authentication (not the accounts that use OAuth2). I have the settings configured to always accept cookies and to keep them until I close Thunderbird, so I guess that's not the relevant setting. Any ideas what I should change to fix this?
