When I delete my email I don't know where it ends up. Before, I would always see them in my trash folder, but my trash folder is empty.

Thank you for your help.

Hi sunshine4, The cause of the problem may be something simple like a view setting. Press Alt to display the menu bar, and go to View > Messages > All, and View > Threads > All.

If the messages are still not there, try rebuilding the index file. Right-click on the Trash folder, and select Properties. In the Properties window, click Repair Folder.

Hi Chris, Thank you for your help. When I click on View in the menu bar, I don't see anything called Messages. I see something called "Message Source" but that doesn't do what we need.

I have clicked Repair Folder in the Properties window, but since deleting an email, it has not appeared in the Trash Folder. It's still empty.

Any other ideas?

Sunshine4

The Messages menu item will not be there if you have removed the Mail Views item from the toolbar, but Threads should still be there!

I think the next step is to verify what you have Thunderbird set to do when you delete a message from that account.

It sounds like your trash folder isn't mapped to the folder on the server.

  1. Right-click on the account, and select Settings.
  2. Select Server Settings.
  3. Under When I delete a message, set it to Move it to this folder, then click Choose Folder and set it to the Trash folder.

If the problem still occurs, we'll need some more info about your Thunderbird setup.

  1. Go to [=] > Help > Troubleshooting Information then click Copy text to Clipboard.
  2. Go to https://pastebin.mozilla.org/ and go to Edit > Paste to paste the info from your Troubleshooting Information page.
  3. In Firefox, click on the three dots to the right of the address, and select Copy Link.
  4. Open a reply to this post, and go to Edit > Paste to paste the link to your troubleshooting information.

Chris,

I checked the settings and they matched with your suggestions. I copied my settings as you asked here - https://pastebin.mozilla.org/9092142

Thank you.

I wonder if it's a sync issue with the server. If you go to the Gmail website, are the messages in your Trash folder on the website?
