Firefox on my laptop is telling me that it it has version 47.0.1 installed and that "Firefox is up to date", whereas my desktop shows that the version installed is 48.0.2. How can I correct this and have the latest version installed on the laptop?

Updates are not always sent out to everyone. Sometimes they go out to a few, then a few more. A good way to check for problems in the real world.
