Firefox 6 hangs when NOT in Safe Mode.

I got a new laptop (8-16-11) and installed Firefox 6 on it as soon as I turned it on. It seemed to be working fine (I THINK) until I had to update Java to Version 6 Update 26.

Now it loads fine and seems to be ok for about 10-15 seconds then it stops behaving normally. The mouse icon no longer turns into a hand, the mouse cursor stops blinking in text boxes, typing stops in texts boxes even though I'm typing, drop down boxes like the automatic seach box stop having mouse-over blue colors and all options in the Firefox menu won't mouse over or work. The only option that does work is going to Safe Mode or the Exit.

When I go to Safe Mode it reloads and everything works GREAT. When I go to Safe Mode and load a few items, it totally stop working again. Only full blown Safe Mode keeps it from hanging.

OK, I have to hand it to the Dell tech over in India. After more than an hour and lots of trying things and rebooting, they finally found out that virtual memory / page memory needed to be raised. The min and max were raised and that fixed the problem.

Although, now I wonder why a laptop with a faster processor, 4gb RAM, and a Radeon vid card needs to have the virtual memory upped when my other 2 laptops that aren't nearly as advanced run Win7 64 bit and FF6 without touching the memory settings.
