But I expect bookmarks, and links to work, I think that sounds like "AVG Safe", which should be disabled, and removed with special instructions as noted in

Also check your other extensions against those listed in the article.

I don't have AVG, but I did just turn on the feature to disable add-ons that are not compatable. Will see if that fixes anything.

That didn't work. I still can't open any url's in the address bar when I type them in. I can open pages I have bookmarked. Just not the ones I type in.

It turns out it was hardware excelleration was turned on. I turned it off and all is well. Thank you mha007 very much for that link. It had the answer.
