How to get windows and tabs restored when session store backup data is gone after update?

My PC crashed and then upon opening up firefox it forced me to update firefox. Afterwards all windows and tabs disappeared but my browing history is still there. I tried the in-browser restoration but it is greyed out. I tried the session store backup profile data but has no 'previous' or 'back up' files, only 'restore' files that are empty and restore to no tabs or windows. What other ways are possible? It's weird my browsing history anf bookmarks weren't deleted at the same time.

There is no forced update, check you don't have it set to auto

Settings > About Firefox >

Did you check Profiles via about:profiles etc.
