I updated Firefox to Version 154.0 and now I cannot search properly with/on Yahoo!
I've been using Firefox for so many years I don't use any other browser unless a site doesn't work, then I use 'Opera' (very infrequent). I updated Firefox to v154.0 and now searching does not work properly.
I used to be able to enter a question into the bar/box where one would normally view any given URL, select return, and Firefox would bring up Yahoo! search results.
With this update, that doesn't work. When I select return the URL that had been in the space just reappears. If I visit the Yahoo! main page and try to use the search box with the magnifying/eye-glass, it launches a blank tab.
I'm forced to use the AI icon to get a search result. I do NOT want to use that feature.
Also, with Firefox 154.0 I cannot remove other search engines. With every update I remove Google, Bing, Duck-Duck-Go, Wiki, Amazon, etc. because I ONLY want one search engine, Yahoo!
I checked the Yahoo!Search Extension and made sure all the "allow" buttons needed were selected.
I want to remove the other search engines from the Settings tab, and I would like to have the same behavior prior to the update: simply type my question or text into the main html bar/box and select return, and get results.
I see that other had an issue starting with version 142 or so that was similar, but I've not had this issue until two days ago.
Any help is appreciated. And yes I delete my cache etc. regularly. I'm on Mac OS 15.7.7 and again, it has never been a problem until updating Firefox to v154.

I've been having this problem, too. I'll try and search something from the address bar and...nothing happens. It doesn't even hang, it simply does not go anywhere, not even an error page. I'm using the "Yahoo Toolbar and New Tab" extension. I've closed out of sessions to clear everything and opened new sessions to no avail.
Edit: Nope, wasn't the Extension I don't think.

I did notice an option in the Firefox settings section under "Search" that their are two sets of options for "Search Engine Suggestions" and "Firefox Suggest", and I have a feeling that if anyone has selected anything in each area the engine and the Firefox Suggest (which I'm presuming is a new AI based helper) are walking on each other. I have none of the boxes selected. Of course, those options would only be helpful if the Yahoo search engine and Firefox gave 'results' of any type vs. the current behavior of either doing nothing, or launching an about: tab with no results within it. I don't know how Yahoo! is still in business honestly, but I won't use Google if it can be avoided. So for the moment, unless results come back, the best I can do is be stuck with the little AI icon in Yahoo!'s search bar. I don't want to educate their AI. I don't understand why it's broken. I think looking further into it there was a break at version 149 of Firefox that required a bug fix. So perhaps the bug has reappeared and the good folks at Mozilla will from a developer side re-add the last fix to correct the current bad behavior? (shrug).

Thanks for showing me this. I definitely went under "Firefox Suggest" checked "Suggestions from Firefox" and then unchecked the one that's already checked ("Retrieve suggestions from Mozilla as you type.". Kind of off topic from what we were talking about, a bit, but I've been having another issue with Yahoo of making suggestions while I type in their address bar from previous sessions, which it should absolutely not be doing, since I've had my settings set to erase everything once I close out of Firefox and end a session.
As for this specific problem we're talking about, it seems to come and go. So it's annoying, but not yet prohibitive. Like you said, perhaps they'll recognize it and fix it in the next update, which I imagine will be soon.
