Is Webroot actually working with you--are the pop-ups I keep getting from Webroot seeking authorization to track my computer use legitimate?

I keep getting pop-up messages from something called Webroot, which is purportedly working with you. It asks permission for "Webroot Web Threat Shield Extension for Mozilla Firefox" to gather information about the web pages I visit. Is this legitimate, or a scam to gather information used in surveillance or marketing?

Can you attach a screenshot of this popup? It sounds like an extension trying to install itself.

We don't work with them and we don't force it to be installed. If you don't know what it is, or you don't need it, don't install it.

Examine your extensions and go to about:policies to see if there are any active policies.
