Sorry to hear about this problem.

Were there any software changes prior to this problem occurring, such as a Windows update or a Firefox update?

What have you tried so far?

Your answers to the above questions will be helpful, but here is a general suggestion:

If your Firefox performed a Refresh then there should be a new folder on your Windows desktop named Old Firefox Data.

If you have that folder let us know.

If you do not have that folder, I suggest:

(A) If you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.

(B) If Firefox again starts up without your data, check whether your stuff is available in a different profile, as follows:

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. (Each profile has two folders and one or more buttons. Do not use any Remove buttons!)

The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Do you have any other profile(s) listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.

Any progress so far?

Hi thanks,

yes firefox asked me to update. after it updated it did not restore session. it said i had no bookmarks or passwords saved. it also does not seem to saveing new ones either. or allowing me to import, passwords are prob most importent.

I have an old firefox data file but cant open anything in it. it mentions bookmarks/sessions but not passwords.

I found fund my way into profile manarger, and had this result.

Profile: default-release This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

I have sign off now but will try again tomorrow.

Hi Tracy, thank you for checking on those things. Since we are in different time zones (it's just about to be 10am here), I will make a note for you to check tomorrow:

In the Old Firefox Data folder, how fresh is the data? You can use the file names in the bookmarkbackups folder to judge that, because they have the creation date coded into the file name.

If the data is fresh, then for future reference:

I'm curious: the System Details show you used a Firefox 100.0 version and the current release is 102.0.1.

Didi you downgrade Firefox to 100.0 as that might explain why you lost your personal data. Firefox doesn't allow downgrading a profile to an older version and creates a new profile instead. If you install the current release the Firefox should pick up the old profile.
