now gatting can not connect to server for my yahoo account

everything was fine two days ago, then, yesterday, my thunderbird is coming up with an error for my yahoo mail, ca not connect to server. my options are retry, (does not work), or add password, (does not work) my gmail on there has no issues, it is just my yahoo account. I do not have yahoo plus, just regular free yahoo. Can not fix this issue so far. If i cant, will have to discontinue using this email service

Have you logged into your yahoo mail using a browser? Sometimes connectivity dies because they want to tell you something.

Or the big one at the moment is two factor authentication. Folk set it up but do not create the necessary application password for Thunderbird.
