When we send emails from Thunderbird, recipients at yahoo.ca, google.com, and many other addresses do not receive the message, while some others, notably any at our same domain reptilia.org do. This is not the when we use the provider's webmail services. In those cases every email is received.

Do the non-recipients receive any notification about these failures? Are your messages being put into their spam folders?

My suspicion is that your mail provider's email servers have been blacklisted, possibly because they are not sufficiently proactive in dealing with spam and malware originating from their network. Spammers and other bad people are unlikely to be using their webmail for their nefarious activities so webmail doesn't acquire the same bad reputation, and your messages sent via webmail get there unscathed.
